My friend, Megan said that she would read a blog that I wrote, so here I am. But in order to convince myself to go ahead with this, I had to trick myself by telling…myself that this is not, in fact a blog. It’s just, you know, thoughts…random sentences, made up of words, and posted to a site on the web, for people to look at…if they want to. It doesn’t really matter if they do. I don’t really care either way. (Non-committal much?)

So yah, here we are.

I think I’ve been working in business too long because I feel the need to state a purpose now. A raison d’être if you will (and you probably won’t) about why this not-blog exists. I’m just going to jot down a few vague reasons, then finesse and finalize at some point in the future. Or maybe I won’t.

Why this?

  • Creative outlet
  • Journaling
  • Social (anti-social, really) interaction
  • Because sharing is caring
  • To mark the passage of time
  • Because Megan suggested it

I suppose a general purpose for any expression is for the ongoing pursuit of happiness. Happiness, in this case, is presumed to be the ultimate goal in the plight of life, whether that is through job satisfaction, personal relationships, health, the state of the world and your understanding of your place within it, etc. So I’ll be talking about that stuff too.

So let’s get on with it then.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it is I enjoy doing. The reason I’m trying to pinpoint this is so that I can figure out how to shape my career around something I love to do. I hear that when you are doing what you love, it doesn’t feel like work at all. And wouldn’t that be nice?

So far, I have come up with the following:

  1. Taking long hot showers
  2. Eating chips

If you have any suggestions on how I can make a living doing either or both of these things, please let me know.
